So soon?
This evening I was at Toastmasters meeting. I’ve been a member for about 8 years now and I still love it! Someone was giving a speech and noted that by today’s date, January 10th, a majority of those who made New Year’s resolutions have already failed. Yikes!!! That’s only 10 days into the new year. What is up with that?!
I think the reason I make so few commitments is because I know once I make one, I’ll keep it. Basically, I hate to fail. It just bugs me to think that I wasn’t strong enough to see it through. Also, at my age I’ve finally stopped trying to compete against other people (except at air hockey, Kevin) and now I compete against myself. Maybe that’s part of why people fail to keep their resolutions, because they are made based on what people think they should do or what they think someone else wants them to do. Personally, I don’t care. I’m used to people thinking I’m nuts anyway so what’s one more bizarre goal. I commit to things that are important to me and that’s another reason I tend to see them through.
How are your resolutions going?
