You Cannot Make Progress...

It's always an interesting thing when I notice something going on either in my personal life or in my work life and then an explanation for it shows up out of the blue. As a professional organizer, one of the things I am really good at spotting is when a client has reached the end of their ability to focus on the decluttering process. They get to the point where they just can't make another decision. Yesterday I was introduced to something called "decision fatigue," which is exactly that. Each decision we make exerts a bit more of our energy and focus just like how each rep of a physical workout makes our muscles a bit more tired.
Each person has a different capacity for maintaining their focus but it is obvious when they reach the end of their ability. The good news is, there are things we can do to help minimize this type of fatigue in our lives. There are also things we can do once we find ourselves in that state of mind.
